Our 2016 Fielders Choice is our flagship red. The fruit was delicately picked, sorted and fermented in 1 ton lots for the best expression of clone and vineyard block. This is a big wine that pairs well with big foods like a juicy ribeye. 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 14 months in neutral French oak. Only 100 cases produced.

Vineyard Notes
The blocks of fruit that went into this blend are facing due South and lie between 1200' and 1500’ elevation. The blocks sit on a variety of soil types; sandy loam, granite, greenstone and shale.

Winemaker Notes
2016 is a year that has come back to surprise many of us. The growing season was fine, fairly unremarkable. Harvest was smooth and spread out, with no hurricane pressure at the end of the season. The wines at the time didn’t really stand out . However, the wines now are expressing themselves beautifully 8 years into aging and still have time to go.
